Global Vision International (GVI) was formed in 1997 to provide support to international charities, non-profits, and governmental agencies. GVI is a recognised leader in international volunteering and has sent over 10,000 volunteers overseas to aid critical environmental and humanitarian programs. We work hand in hand with local communities, international and local charities and governmental organisations to ensure the long-term sustainability of all our programs.
Until 2011, GVI volunteer programs were only available to adult participants over 18 years of age. However, we at GVI are strong believers in the transformative power of participating in international volunteer work, and we want to make such educational and life-changing experiences available to younger volunteers. In 2011, we launched GVI Foundations in order to expose young people to the experiences which had up until now only been available to adults.
We have carefully selected among the over 140 volunteer projects that we operate worldwide to find the ones that would be best suited for younger volunteers. On these select projects, GVI Foundations volunteers will have greater supervision, training, and world-class leaders chosen for their mix of experience in the field and ability to mentor and inspire young people.
Our partners include some of the world’s most well respected and well recognised organisations such as The Diana Award, Jane Goodall Institute, Dian Fossey Gorilla Foundation, Kenya Wildlife Service and Rainforest Concern.

Chris joined GVI in 2003 as a volunteer and spent a year working in the national parks of South Africa teaching environmental education. In 2004 he became a full time staff member at the UK head office and worked his way up the organisation to become the International Projects Director.
